The Maze Runner Casting Process Has Begun!

Even though most everything about the upcoming Maze Runner movie is under lock and key, we did get a very interesting tidbit of info today from author James Dashner’s blog.

Everything is pretty tight-lipped right now, but all I can tell you is what is public knowledge. Wes Ball is directing, The Gotham Group is producing, 20th Century Fox is the studio, and the film is in pre-production. And the casting process has begun. If you are an interested actor and you know what you’re doing, you probably already know this.

Sounds pretty interesting. James has said that he could see Joel Courtney, who played the main character in the 2011 movie Super 8, cast as Thomas.joel courtney Authors usually don’t have a huge say in who is cast in their book’s movie, but his wishes may be seriously considered.

What do you think? Last summer you voted for who you think should play each character. You can see the final results in video form here. Do you still agree with last years’s polls, or do you side with James, the very person who invented Thomas? Sound off in the comments.

Dream Cast Finale: Video

Hey guys and gals! Remember that video that I promised you? Of course you do! Well, I been working around the clock and I finally finished it! Get your popcorn ready, ’cause here it is:

Don’t hate me, but after posting the video I came across a spelling mistake that I missed when editing. I hope you enjoyed it anyways!

I guess you all figured it out by now, but the Dream Cast project is over. What should we do now? Do you have and idea? Post it in the comments!

Maze Runner Dream Cast Week 8: Thomas

Hey all!

So, after 8 weeks of searching and you voting, we have finally come down to Thomas! Before we get to that, I have to announce our new Teresa. At the moment I saw the poll, Alexandra Daddario was at 20 votes, but Isabelle Fuhrman was at 21, officially making her our new Teresa! It’s moments like these I like seeing! This week is our last week of voting, then our very own admin Megan will be putting together an undoubtedly cool video featuring the cast that you chose! Without further ado… Thomas!

Colin Ford’s most recent box office movie was the heartwarming family film, “We Bought a Zoo.” Also, earlier in 2012 he played in the drama “Eye of the Hurricane,” for television. He has been in the TV series, “Supernatural,” as Young Sam Winchester, with his role spaced out for 3 years. Despite his record not being very long, he manages to do an exceedingly great job in every movie I have seen him in.

Logan Lerman gained everyone’s attention when he starred as Percy Jackson in “Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief.” A yeard after that, he played in “The Three Musketeers,” as the witty wanna be Musketeer, D’Artagnan. Later this year, he will be co-starring in the movie “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” with none other than Emma Watson.

Braeden Lemasters has been featured in a lot of TV series, but the show he stayed with longest was “Men of a Certain Age.” He has also played a small role in “Easy A,” and a supporting actor role in “The Stepfather,” as the youngest in the family.

Luke Benward first REALLY came into movie existence when he played friend of the main character along with his ‘brother’ in “Because of Winn-Dixie.” Many may have also seen him in the Disney movie, “Minutemen,” portraying the young genius alongside actors Jason Dolley and Nicholas Braun. From what I’ve seen, he definitely has personality, but can he mold it to the maze?

James Gaisford is an unknown actor, famous for roles as Finnick and Haymitch on Youtube’s “Main Stay Productions” channel. Out of all the actors displayed today, he is the oldest looking, but usually older actors are made to play teens in movies. If you have seen him in the video “Hunger Games: The Second Quarter Quell,” then you know that he is an amazing actor when it comes to fight scenes and emotion.

Thank you all for taking your time out of your summer to read this! Vote for your favorite Thomas in the poll down below. Be on the lookout for the video with our entire Dream Cast! This will more than likely be my last post, because I am moving over summer and am very busy with extra schooling. I feel bad that I was an admin for such a short time, but I have loved every second of it and will miss posting! Thank you again for your support.

Glade on!

Maze Runner Dream Cast Week 7: Teresa

Hey all you Griever-haters! (hopefully..)

So, last week was Minho, and *drumroll* Harry Shum Jr. is inducted into our Maze Runner Dream Cast. I wasn’t surprised when I saw the voting, because the book described him as being muscular, and the others….. well…. weren’t. On that note, down below are some actresses who could play the only girl in the Maze! a.k.a. Teresa.

Chloe Grace Moretz has recently played alongside Johnny Depp in “Dark Shadows,” and has been featured in many TV shows such as “The Guardian,” and “Desperate Housewives.” Chloe also stared in last year’s Best Picture nominated movie “Hugo”. I think she would look stunning as a dark brunette, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she got the role.

Alexandra Daddario first came into my knowledge when she played Annabeth in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Theif.” Since then, she has played in the TV series “White Collar,” the movie “Hall Pass,” and more. She doesn’t look too young because of her curvy figure, but movie magic can always fix that!

Shailene Woodley has been on the show “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” for around the past 5 years, but is now moving onto bigger things. She recently stared alongside George Clooney in the Academy Award nominated “The Descendants”. Sometime in 2013 she is going to be starring in “The Spectacular Now.” Woodley is definitely a dramatic girl, which makes her perfect to play Teresa.

Isabelle Fuhrman starred in “Orphan” in 2009, and since then has been slowly but surley gaining popularity. Recently she has played the Career, Clove in “The Hunger Games.” Later this year, audiences can look forward to seeing her in movies like, “The Healer,” and “After Earth.”

Hanna Hall has been in “The Virgin Suicides,” and more recently the thriller, ” Visible Scars” that came out in early 2012. To me, Hall has a very haunting/solemn look to her beauty, which is a characteristic I would love to see on Teresa.

Jodelle Ferland has gone back and forth between TV and the big screen, but some of her more popular roles include Bree in “The Twlight Saga: Eclipse,” and Natalie in “Mighty Fine.” With her long resume, I think everyone will be seeing more of her!

So, that’s it for Teresa! You can tell us your thoughts on this post in the comments, and you can also leave your suggestions for next week’s character, Thomas! Tune in next Thursday to see his picks. If you liked a particular Teresa today, please, poll in your votes down below, which will give us our new Dream Cast Teresa! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Glade on!

Maze Runner Dream Cast Week 6: Minho

Hey guys!

I trust you are all having a great Thursday. Mine is busy, with finals and what not. Can’t wait until summer! So, last week we voted for Graham Patrick Martin to be our Newt in our Dream Cast! Congrats, Graham! Finally, this week we are at Minho, soon after to be Teresa, then Thomas. Exciting! Here are the possible choices.

Derek Mio is a bit on the older side, but can play a younger person, “Greek” being an example. From the former TV show, “Greek,” we learn that Derek has great comical timing and a carefree attitude. Sometime in 2013, his new movie, “Sexy Evil Genius” will come out, which is an R rated comedy. On that note, be on the lookout for his comedy!

Mario Maurer is a Thai model and actor who I mainly picked because he looks like Minho! Mario has only starred in Thai dramas, which may make everything more difficult to understand if he was in an American movie, but there are always speech coaches and accent classes!

Harry Shum Jr. currently plays a role in “Glee” is Mike Chang. He has guest starred on the Nickelodeon show, “iCarly” as a Japanese vlogger, who displayed amazing feats of flips and kicks later in the show. In “Glee”, he is first a shy football player, afraid to show his real self, but after he signs up for Glee club, he becomes a skilled performer with a lot of confidence.

Thank you everyone for reading this post today! Minho is one of my favorite characters, but it was very difficult to find actors to portray him, because there aren’t many known actors that fit his description. Leave a comment below telling us what you think about this weeks candidates! In order to expand our Dream Cast, you all have to vote. You can poll in your pick for Minho down under, and we will reveal the winner next week! Speaking of next week, we will be featuring Teresa! Leave a comment with your thoughts on who should play her. Thank you everyone for your support!

Maze Runner Dream Cast Week 5: Newt

Hey Gladers!

Last week, Chuck was featured, and you all voted for Alex Ferris! He is now a part of our Maze Runner family. Welcome, Alex! Today, our feature presentation is Newt! Newt is also one of the first boys in the maze, and is a very kind, understanding friend towards Thomas. If I recall correctly, I think he also had a limp? Leave a comment letting me know. Anyway, here are our Newts!

Graham Patrick Martin is currently playing the character Eldridge on “Two and a Half Men.” Martin has also made appearances on Disney and Nick shows such as “iCarly,” and “Good Luck Charlie.” He has a face I would deem kind and trustworthy, and that’s exactly the feel Newt gives off.

Devon Gearhart has played small roles in different genres, showing he is a diverse actor. He has been in the TV series “Lost,” as well as box office movies like, “Funny Games,” “Changeling,” and “Dog Days of Summer.” He also naturally has Newt’s signature blond hair, which makes it easier for us to imagine him in the movie.

Erik J. Berg is a drama kind of guy. With him having been in “The Haunting in Conneticut” and “Random Musings of a girl named Daphna,” we can clearly see he can seem disturbed, which is (sadly) how Newt turns out to be. His up and coming movie, “Silent Night,” is also a horror, to be released later this year.

Well, that’s all we have for Newt today! Next week, we will be showing everyone who we think should be playing Minho. Two more weeks then Thomas! AHH! Leave a comment below, telling us what actors should play Minho, and poll in your votes on your pick for Newt! Thanks everyone!

Maze Runner Dream Cast Week 4: Chuck

Hey Maze Runner Fans!

Last week we decided who would be our new Gally, and you all chose Devon Bostick! Devon is now annexed as our Gally into the Maze Runner Dream Cast Family. This week on Dream Cast, we’re going to be taking a look at a couple of young actors who would be great to play Chuck. Chuck was the Greenbean before Thomas, and they became best friends. He looked about 12 to 13 years old and was described as short and pudgy with long brown hair and blue eyes.

ImageAlex Ferris is such an adorable kid, who looks younger than his age! He’s played in “The Time Traveler’s Wife” as Henry (at the age of 6). More recently, he’s played in the first “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” movie as an annoying, smart kid named Collin. ***SPOILER*** He is so cute it would be hard to resist being friends with him, feeling sorry for him, or crying when he died in my presence.

Brecken Palmer hasn’t shown up in media in a while, so this would be a great opportunity for him to get back into acting. His most significant role has been in the movie, “Yours, Mine, and Ours” as Ely Beardslay. This child actor is also adorable, and I definitely see him as the Greenie that gets bullied around constantly but the other Gladers.

I know that was very short, but that’s it for Chuck! Thank you all so much for reading this and tune in next week for Newt. If you have any ideas for Newt, comment on this post, telling us what you think! To pick our Chuck for our Dream Cast, poll in your votes down below!

Maze Runner Dream Cast Week 3: Gally

Hey everyone!

I am happy to say that Jareb Dauplaise will officially be joining our Dream Cast as Frypan!  He won against Max by exactly one vote. This week, we will be looking at some Gallys, and there are quite a few so hang in there!

Graham Philips is currently in the mystery drama series, “The Good Wife.” his fans have seen him grow up on the screen, and “The Maze Runner” would be another great boost for this young rising star. Gally doesn’t have any physical descriptions in the book, (other than that he looks mad all the time) but Graham has the natural dark features I would expect Gally to have.

Dominic Scott Kay gives off a vibe of pretty, bad boy guitar player. In 2011, he landed the supporting role of Andrew in the thriller/horror, “Cousin Sarah.” As a boy, he also played young Will Turner in box office movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End.”

Sterling Beaumon is a TV face, soon to star in the horror movie, “Crawlspace.” For TV he has been featured in series such as “LOST,” and “Clue.” He has played teenage serial killers on “Law and Order,” and “Criminal Minds,” revealing to us an ability to act with hidden rage. To me, Sterling looks like he should be related to Saoirse Ronan.

Carter Jenkins has the same dark features as formerly stated Gally contestant, Graham Philips. Jenkins has played in “The Nevsky Project,” and “Valentine’s Day.” I can definitely say he has great comical timing! I think it’s Gally’s older, brooding self-image that draws me to believe he has dark features, and i’m happy to find actors that fit that description!

Devon Bostick is a great actor, with a long list of movies to back him up. Devon is constantly surprising audiences by acting in new genres. He has played in numerous TV series such as “Being Erica,” and “Flash Point.” He is very hilarious in his most recent family-oriented movie, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules,” with the third installment of the series to hit theaters this summer. I wouldn’t be a true gamer if I didn’t mention he was also in the mini-series, “Assassin’s Creed: Lineage,” as Ezio Auditore.

Nolan Gerard Funk is the last Gally contender, and probably the one I would least want to be enemies with. He has many projects going on at the moment, including “Evidence,” and “Untitled Chronicles of Riddick Sequel.” Acting-wise, he can be very commercial and dramatic.

Thank you for bearing through the long post! As always, you can leave a comment down below telling us what you think! Also, poll in your votes for who you believe should be an addition to our Dream Cast as Gally. Next week, we will be choosing who should play Chuck, so leave a comment below telling us who we should feature!

Glade on!

Maze Runner Dream Cast Week 2: Frypan

Hey everyone!

So, I am happy to announce the permanent addition to our Dream cast as Alby is Michael B. Jordan! This week, we will be taking a look at a couple of actors who I think should be playing Frypan! Frypan is the head chef in the Glade, who cooks for all of the boys. There isn’t much description, but he is said to be a big, hairy teenager. I took that, and added a bit of imagination!

Jareb Dauplaise would make a great Frypan. He has pretty much only played in spoof comedies such as “Meet the Spartans” and “Epic movie.” Usually, I wouldn’t pick anyone so comical to play a more serious role, but something drew me to pick him, and I think he would be the right choice.

Max Adler is a bit on the older side, but has played a teenager on “Glee” and was character fan favorite. He has played serious roles in television series such as “The Defenders” and “Ghost Whisperer.” Max is going to be in the up and coming Drama/Romance War movie, “AWOL,” showing he can play somber characters.

Who do you think should play Frypan? Poll in your votes below, and tell us what you think personally in the comments! Next week, we are going to be featuring Gally, so comment below on what actor you would like to portray him. We are looking forward to your responses!
