Today was the day! You can now casually walk into a store and buy your very own copy of ‘The Kill Order’!
So, what are you doing reading this? Try to finish “The Kill Order”! Or, if you don’t have a copy, go and get one! I would personally recommend buying it at Barnes & Noble because of the exclusive content in the back of the book concerning Teresa’s swipe. You can order this exclusive copy here. Happy reading!
I had the opportunity to briefly meet author James Dashner and was able to get his autograph on my newly purchased The Death Cure book as well as an extra gift (which I’ll be reading shortly), but Lytherus was able to get an interview with James.
James talks about what the prequel, The Kill Order, is about, the reason for the memory loss, the characterization of Thomas, the reader reaction to this character, the creations of specific evils in his books, and the relationship between Thomas and Teresa. They also ask a little bit about his life and what he does aside from writing.
Are you going to be at San Diego Comic Con International on Sunday? If you answered yes to that question, you can catch the panel that James Dashner will be participating in.
Sunday at noon James will be part of the “What’s Hot in YA Fiction” panel with fellow authors Leigh Bardugo (Shadow and Bone), Kami Garcia (co-author of the Beautiful Creatures novels), Tahereh Mafi (Unravel Me), Melina Marchetta (Froi of the Exiles), Lish McBride (Hold Me Closer, Necromancer), Myra McEntire (Hourglass trilogy) and Scott Westerfeld (Uglies) in room 25ABC. Afterwords James will be in the autograph area of the Sails Pavilion to sign things.
For those of you not going to Comic Con, like me, I’ll accept Maze Monday submissions through Saturday. So now you have something to do instead of just sitting around wishing you were in San Diego! I still need to receive three more submissions to reach the goal I set last week, so get solving and/or having fun at Comic Con!
As I promised yesterday, I am about to dissect the cover of “The Kill Order”, which was also unveiled yesterday. If you missed the cover, here is a picture of it:
Please note: I may refer to some things that were not present in the trilogy, but did appear in the bonus content that appeared in the back of copies of “The Death Cure” that were purchased at Barnes and Noble. This bonus material contained messages and e-mails that were recovered from before and immediately after the Flare was released. So, if some things are said about the origin of the Flare that you don;t recognize, you now know why.
The first thing that came ti my mind when I saw this cover was the big ball of flame in the top left corner. My guess is that this is one of the solar flares that destroyed the entire middle section of the planet. Will this book be following someone who lived in an affected area? We know that this book has an entirely new cast of characters, so this is quite possible.
I also notice the burnt road, fences and houses. This picture seems to be of a subdivision, judging by the number of cars and houses clustered so close together. We can also assume that this is located somewhere in between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, or somewhere close to there because we learned in “The Death Cure” that not all of the Earth was burned and that most of what was burned was in the center of it. For some reason, something in my head is telling me that this is in Arizona, but please DO NOT take this a fact.
The last thing I want to say about the cover is that I love how it has that cute little “The prequel to the New York Times bestselling Maze Runnerseries” at the very top. That is sure to catch someone’s eye while browsing for books this fall!
As always, leave you comments below this post about what you think the cover could say about the book. And now, it is time for a poll!
This morning at 9:00 EST, James Dashner revealed the cover of the prequel to the Maze Runner trilogy, “The Kill Order”. (I’m deeply sorry that I’m posting it this late, I’ve had school all day.) So, without further ado….
The cover was designed by Philip Straub, who also designed the covers for every book in the original trilogy.
Stay tuned, because tomorrow I will devour the cover and post my reactions. Want in on the fun? Leave a comment on this post with your reactions before 4:00 EST and it may just be included in tomorrow’s post!
I don’t know if this if news to any of you, but it certainly was to me! According to the Barnes and Noble website, Amazon, James Dashner’s twitter the lovely people on the Maze Runner Trilogy Facebook page, “The Kill Order” will be released on August 14, 2012. This is about two months ahead of when “The Death Cure” was released last year.
So, mark your calenders for August 14 and take James’s warning from his twitter to watch out for solar flares! Feel free to speculate in the comments below as to how the events in the original trilogy came to be.
